Description: The Legal Services Corporation (LSC) is the single largest funder of civil legal aid for low-income Americans in the nation. Established in 1974, LSC operates as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that promotes equal access to justice and provides grants for high-quality civil legal assistance to low-income Americans.

How to Apply: Applicants must file a Notice of Intent to Compete (NIC) to participate in the competitive grants process. Applicants must file the NIC by May 8, 2015.
The 2016 grants process for competitive grant and grant renewal applicants follows three schedules as described below. Review the schedules for a list of key activities and dates.
- Schedule A: for applicants that have not had an LSC program quality visit (PQV) since January 1, 2013 (New applicants should also use Schedule A)
- Schedule B: for applicants that have had a PQV since January 1, 2013; will have received a final PQV report by April 30, 2015; and are the only applicant for the service area
- Schedule C: for applicants that have had a PQV since January 1, 2013; will have received a final PQV report by July 1, 2015; and are the only applicant for the service area
Current Closing Date for Applications: June 1, 2015 (Schedule A); June 15, 2015 (Schedule B); or Aug. 10, 2015 (Schedule C).
Eligible Applicants: 1. current recipients; 2. non-profit organizations that have as a purpose the provision of legal assistance to eligible clients; 3. private attorneys, groups of attorneys or law firms; 4. state or local governments; 5. sub-state regional planning or coordination agencies that are composed of sub-state areas whose governing boards are controlled by locally elected officials.
