The Correctional Adult Reentry Education, Employment, and Recidivism Strategies (CAREERRS) Program, a Second Chance Act program, is designed to help communities establish education, vocation, and job training programs in their correctional systems that address employment challenges facing incarcerated youth and adults re-entering those communities and the workforce.
The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program is a “patient-centered system that provides care and treatment services to low income people living with HIV to improve health outcomes and reduce HIV transmission among hard to reach populations.” There are five parts to this program. Part B focuses on providing medical and support services to individuals living with HIV/AIDS. This is a formula grant. There is express language for legal aid.

The purpose of this program is to develop, expand, or strengthen victim service programs for victims of human trafficking. There is express language for legal aid.
This program supports organizations that demonstrate innovative strategies to create, expand, or enhance the use of technology on a national scale (or regional projects that can be replicated nationally) to improve responses, services, and access for victims of crime.
This program is intended to improve outcomes, minimize additional trauma, and restore safety and security to older adult victims of abuse and financial exploitation. The purpose of this grant is to support direct service provision to older victims; provide advocacy, assistance, and safety planning; and provide resources for service providers and criminal justice stakeholders. There isn’t express language for legal aid, but the solicitation includes broad language about providing services that can include legal aid.
This program will provide funding to support direct services to children and youth who are crime victims as a result of the nation’s addiction crisis (Purpose Area 1); and training and technical assistance for the direct services grantees (Purpose Area 2). There is express language for legal aid and several legal aid organizations have received this in FY 2018 ad 2019.
The Tribal Opioid Response (TOR) grant program “aims to address opioid crisis in tribal communities by increasing access to culturally appropriate and evidence-based treatment. … The intent is to reduce unmet treatment need and opioid overdose-related deaths through the provision of prevention, treatment and/or recovery activities for OUD.” Legal aid is an eligible subgrantee.
This initiative is intended to support or expand on federal, state, local, and tribal efforts to enforce crime victims rights. Applicants may apply under the following purpose areas: victims rights legal clinics that will provide legal representation to victims and train allied professionals in an effort to enforce victims rights in the criminal justice process (Purpose Area 1), and one training and technical assistance provider to provide support to the selected legal clinics (Purpose Area 2). There is express language for legal aid.
This is a forecasted grant opportunity. The purpose of this grant program is to improve the health those who are medically underserved by providing primary health care services. This is the primary funding source for health centers. Health centers, using “enabling services” language can fund legal services through medical legal partnerships to address the social determinants of health.
